Compared with contemporary Mesopotamia and North Syria, Hittite cuneiform tablets have been found at very few Anatolian and Hittite sites. It is fortunate that in recent years two more new Hittite tablet yielding sites in Central Turkey have come to light, namely Ortakoy, some 55 km south of Corum, excavated since 1992. One of these two sites, Ortakoy, ancient Sapinuwa, gains a well-deserved scholarly interest because of its extensive archives which include Hittite, Akkadian and Hurrian texts.
